Bill and Chris take pride in being the “neighborhood Jeweler.”

Whether working to design the perfect gift for a friend and customer, or repair a sentimental piece of someone’s life, Bill and Chris and all the other Ferdinand Jewelers’ employees are honored to be able to daily service their customers.

In 1977 William (Bill) Ferdinand graduated from the Gemological Institute of America including courses in diamond grading, evaluation and appraising. Bill also completed courses in colored stones, diamond expertise and business organization from The American Gem Society. However, the Ferdinand Jewelers story does not begin there. Jewelry has been in the Ferdinand Family for three generations, beginning with Bill's grandfather. Bill's grandfather opened Maiden Lane Jewelers in Jersey City, NJ in 1947. William R. Ferdinand (Bill's father) moved Maiden Lane Jewelers to New Providence NJ in 1967. In 1969 William R. Ferdinand partnered with Herb and Bill Braunschweiger. This was the start of Bill's jewelry career, as he learned the inner workings of the business and apprenticed as a watchmaker and diamond and gemstone expert from 1973-1984. Bill opened Ferdinand Jewelers in 1984 with his brother Wayne Ferdinand on 6 South Street New Providence NJ. Ferdinand Jewelers is now operated by Bill and wife Christine (Chris) Ferdinand.
